Este no es el típico post de los miércoles, porque esta no es una típica semana. ¿Les está costando retomar las rutinas del año tanto como a mí? Mucho que ordenar, que buscar, que marcar, que manejar... ya se irá enrielando todo. Lo que me da esperanzas de un respiro entretenido, de esos que se agradecen, es que el domingo empiezan a dar en el cable la cuarta temporada de Downton Abbey, la serie inglesa sobre la familia Crawley que conquistó al mundo con su historia y sus detalles, las locaciones, vestuarios, música, haciendo incluso que la moda le hiciera guiños. Si ya la vieron por algún medio, no me cuenten! He esperado pacientemente para ver cómo resuelven el nudo sin Mathew y quiero escuchar todas las frases que Lady Violet tiene para decir, las enmarcaría.

   This isn't the typical  wednesday post, because this is not a typical week. Are you picking up the year year routines, it's been hard for me as. A lot to tide up, to look for, to label, to handle ... but everything will come to it's course. What gives me hope is an entertaining break, one of those of which we are grateful for, good thing that on Sunday the fourth season of Downton Abbey starts showing here, the British series about the Crawley family that conquered the world with its history and details, locations, costumes, music, making even the fashion world wink. If you already saw it by any means, don't tell me anything! I waited patiently to see how they solve the knot without Mathew and I so want to hear all phrases that Lady Violet has to say, I would frame all of them.

   Los seres humanos siempre hemos trabajado, para dar sustento a nuestras familias y para desarrollarnos. Es digno, necesario y cuando es lo que nos gusta, también gratificante. La revolución industrial marcó el inicio de la eficiencia y de las grandes fábricas, con todos sus beneficios y sus desventajas. Todo eso se refleja contundentemente en la película escrita y dirigida por Charles Chaplin, Tiempos Modernos. Es divertida, porque el pequeño vago de Charlie, en su última aparición cinematográfica como ese personaje, hace de las suyas en la ciudad, con sus gestos y accidentes. Pero también es triste y deja pensando en lo que queremos hacer con nuestra vida. Y junto con la historia, están las imágenes, en un inconfundible estilo industrial y utilitario.

   As humans, we have always worked, to support our families and to develop. It is worthy, necessary, and when we do what we like, also rewarding. The industrial revolution marks the beginning of efficiency and large factories, with all their benefits and disadvantages. All this is reflected strongly in the film written and directed by Charles Chaplin, Modern Times. It's funny, because the little tramp Charlie, in his final film appearance as this character, does his thing in the city, with his gestures and accidents. But it's also sad and leaves you thinking about what we do with our lives. And along with the story, are the images in an unmistakably industrial and utilitarian style.

   Atención, que este mes en HBO están dando una película buenísima, especial para armar panorama en la casa, se llama Hereafter o Más Allá de la Vida. Si les digo que es un drama centrado en tres personas, un obrero americano, una periodista francesa y un niño de Londres, quienes son tocados por la muerte de diferentes maneras, puede sonar curioso, pero si les digo que además la historia la cuenta Don Clint Eastwood quiere decir que no se la pueden perder. Da para sentarse en la punta de la silla y para pensar también, muy buena. No les voy a contar más porque la puedo echar a perder. Revisen los días y horarios acá.

   This month on HBO, a great movie to watch, Hereafter. If I tell you it's a drama about three people, an american worker, a french journalist and a kid from London, whom are touched by death in different ways, you might find it intriguant, but if I also tell you the story is told by director Mr. Clint Eastwood it means you can't miss it. It can make you sit at the border of you chair and think about it a lot too, a good one. I'm not telling anything else. Check the schedule here.

   No me digan que no les ha pasado, eso de necesitar vacaciones de las vacaciones. Puede ser por muchos motivos. Quizás han estado recorriendo dos semanas y ya no quieren volver a subir al auto, hasta piensan seriamente en quedarse botados por ahí; o el balneario de moda los tiene más arriba de la corona, tal vez están compartiendo casa y no fue la mejor idea, o fueron a la playa por el sol y ha llovido la semana completa. Yo generalmente sueño con paz y tranquilidad, cuando ya las ganas son muchas me doy cuenta de que es momento de tomarme un rato para mí. Solita, pensando, caminando o leyendo. Ahora se me antoja algo más o menos así:

   Don't tell me it hasn't happen to you, needing vacations from vacations. It can be out of many things. Maybe you have been on the road for two weeks and can't stand to get in the car again, and are seriously thinking about getting lost. Or that hip beach town could be choking you. Perhaps you're sharing the house and it wasn't the best idea, or you went for some sun and it has been raining for a week. I usually dream of peace and quiet, when craving is too much it's sign for me to take some time off. Alone, thinking, walking or reading. Now I'm in the mood for something like these:

    Vivimos en una época genial para nosotras las mamás. No tenemos que demostrar nada a nadie, la generación anterior ya lo hizo, ahora podemos elegir lo que queremos hacer y cómo lo hacemos, cómo balanceamos ese mundo increíble de la maternidad con crecer nosotras intelectual y laboralmente. Incluso los hombres están compartiendo el sentimiento y hacemos las cosas prácticamente a la par. Si miran la columna izquierda, notarán que hay sitios amigos. Uno de ellos es el de Mara y Ángeles, ellas son dos mujeres que piensan que la vida es más que pañales y mamaderas y que comparten con las demás sus datos y las cosas que les interesan en su blog The Mamacitas. Me acordé de ellas con este video, porque ésta es la actitud de una mamacita, nos colgamos los niños al hombro, nos metemos la vida al bolsillo y después cantamos arriba del piano, estupendas y con una sonrisa, o no? Así son las mamacitas, ella es una.

   We live in a great time for being a mother. We don't have to prove anything to anyone, the generation that came before did it for us, now we can choose what to do and how, how to balance that incredible world of motherhood with our intellectual and work growth. Even men are sharing that feeling and we are doing things almost side by side. If you look at the left column, you would notice some friend sites. One of them is owned by Mara and Ángeles, they are two girls that believe life is more than diapers and milk bottles and share with moms their tips and interests at their blog The Mamacitas. I thought about them when I saw this video, because this is the attitude of a mamacita, we carry our kids on the back, put life in our pocket and then sing over the piano with a smile, don't we? This is a mamacita.

   Hay una película que dan todo el tiempo en el cable (eso quiere decir que es vieja!), pero que siempre me quedo pegada viendo. Y suspiro, me río, lloro...etc. Me gusta porque es simple, real, podría ser la vida de cualquier persona en el mundo, además tiene al perro, que es igualmente "leso", por decirlo suave, que los míos. Pero lo que más me cautiva de Marley y Yo, basada en un libro del mismo nombre de John Grogan, es darme cuenta de lo importante que son para cada persona ciertos momentos en la vida en que tenemos que tomar una decisión que la cambia para adelante. Siempre he pensado que no venimos a la vida a sufrir, sin decir con eso que no debamos enfrentar los sufrimientos que tocan a veces. Lo que sí quiero decir es que muchas veces nosotros mismos nos hacemos infelices añadiendo a la vida cosas que deberíamos sacar y esta película habla de eso, de atreverse a dar pasos para ser feliz, a independizarse, o a dejar de pensar en cosas que no son realmente importantes y poner las prioridades en otro lugar. Todo eso nos hace libres y grandes, y felices! Yo he tomado ya tres veces ese tipo de decisiones y estoy orgullosa de ellas. Y ustedes, les ha pasado también o necesitan un empujoncito para hacerlo?

   There is a movie playing all the time now on cable tv (meaning it's old!), and I always get stuck watching it. I sigh, laugh, cry...etc. I like it because it's simple, real, could be anyone's life around the world, besides it has that "bad" dog, to say it the soft way, that is just like mines. But what captivates me the most about Marley and Me, based on the book by John Grogan, is to realize how important are for every person those moments in which we have to make a decision that will change life ahead. I've always thought we don't come to life to suffer, not saying we don't have to face suffering when it comes,  but saying many times we make ourselves unhappy by adding thing we should't to our life, and this movie talks about that, about taking steps towards happiness, daring to be independent, or just putting priorities where they should be and not over things you don't need. All of that makes us free, big, and happy! I've taken three of this decisions in my lifetime and I¡m proud of them. How about you, have you take some, or need a little push?

   ¡Qué rico que es viernes! ¿Cierto? Todavía no termina el día, pero hoy me viene una extensa jornada de chofer, así que les dejo un par de videos para que vean estos días. El primero necesitó de 288.000 porotitos dulces para hacerse (si necesitaban ayuda para descartarlos, me podría haber encargado de comer la mitad), y el segundo es un espectáculo de ballet que me encantaría ver sobre mi cabeza. Hay quienes les produce angustia, por algo Hitchcock hizo una película, pero a mí me encantan las plumas.

   Nice it's friday! Isn't it? Day is not over yet, but I'm heading a long driver's day, so i'm leaving you with two videos for days ahead. First one needed 288.000 jelly beans to be made (if they needed help with them I could have eaten half), and second one is some piece of ballet show that I would love to see over my head. Some may think it's disturbing, even Hitchcock made a film about it, but I just love feathers.

   Hace un poco de calor y nos llenamos de cosas que hacer, pero traten de no perderse estas oportunidades en la ciudad, y si no vives acá, puedes empezar a juntar para visitarnos, porque cada día vale más la pena Santiago.

   It's a bit hot now and we have many things to do, but try not to miss this great things in the city, and if you don't live here, you may want to start saving to visit, because Santiago is worth it, every day more.

1.- FAXXi: Feria de Artistas en el Parque Araucano, 80 artistas (entre ellos mi amiga Maite Izquierdo) se reúnen con obras en todos los soportes, para conversar con el público, hacer talleres y difundir su trabajo. Revisen la galería y los horarios, hay clases para niños, charlas y otras cosas entretenidas. Un imperdible.

Artists Fair at Parque Araucano, 80 artists (including my friend Maite Izquierdo) gather to show their work covering every technique, to talk with the audience, and make classes. Look into the picture gallery and schedule, there are crafts for kids, discussions and other fun things. A must go.

2.- Filsa: Último fin de semana de la Feria del Libro, no se la pierdan, está llena de ofertas, y en las mañanas hay obras de teatro, música y bailes para niños. Me encanta el stand del Fondo de Cultura Económica. 

Book's Fair last weekend, don't miss it, it's packed with offers, and you can find in the morning some children plays, music and dances. I love FCE stand.

3.- Noche de Monos: Festival de animación en el Centro Cultural Palacio La Moneda. Películas y cortometrajes animados para niños y grandes durante todo el día!! Vean los horarios y aprovechen de ver las demás exposiciones que hay en el CCPLM, como la increíble de Matta.

   Hace algún tiempo me pasa que soy incapaz de ver una película en la noche. Seguramente es porque todavía el menor se despierta a las tres para su papa y hay que levantar al resto para el colegio. Además pasa que no soy capaz de ver nada denso. Antes me encantaba el cine arte, ahora duermo el cine arte. Y el drama...parece que tengo suficiente con el de las noticias, si es que las veo, en verdad. Porque la cara de los conductores me hace cerrar los ojos de inmediato, apenas dicen "muy buenas noches, bienvenidos". No se preocupen, soy capaz de quedarme despierta muy dignamente por un buen motivo, tampoco es que tenga narcolepsia. A modo de ejemplo, les dejo lo que sería una buena película para ver en la noche hoy, suficiente extensión, trama directa y el peor final que soy capaz de aguantar. Es una verdadera cabra de m.... Enjoy y buen fin de semana!

   I'm unable to watch a movie at night since quite some time now. Most probably because my baby still wants his three a.m. feed and we have to get the kids ready for school early morning. On the side, I'm not ready for anything dense. I used to love art cinema and independent films, now I just sleep through them. And drama.... maybe I have enough with the news, if I get to watch them, really. The anchor man's face makes me slumber, by the time he says "good evening and welcome". Don't worry, I can stay awake with elegance if there is a good reason, it's not that I'm narcoleptic. As an example, I'm leaving you with what would make a good film to watch tonight, good length, direct plot and the worst end I'm able to handle. One piece of goat.... Enjoy and have a nice weekend!

   Éste es el post número 100! Para que piensen este fin de semana, les dejo un video con una pregunta para cincuenta personas: ¿Cuál es tu mejor recuerdo?    Lo que más me gusta es la cara de las personas al acordarse de las cosas. A mi me cuesta mucho decidirme, tengo mucho que agradecer por los buenos recuerdos de cada etapa de la vida. Uno de los mejores fue estar parada en la puerta de la iglesia del brazo de mi papá, escuchar cómo empezaba la música alegre y cadenciosa a llamarme, ver al que sería mi marido al fondo en el altar y cabezas saliendo sonrientes hacia el pasillo central en perspectiva perfecta, lista para caminar hacia el futuro. ¿Cuál es el suyo?

   What I like the most are people faces while remembering. I find it hard to decide, since I should be grateful about the many good memories I have of each stage of life.    Lo más probable es que la vida no me alcance para viajar a todos los lugares que me gustaría conocer. Tengo pensado pedir permiso antes de irme al Más Allá para hacer un vuelo rasante por todos los lugares que no pude ver, para no quedarme con las ganas. Por mientras me conformo con ver estos videos increíbles hechos por Rick Mereki, con el auspicio de una agencia de turismo para estudiantes, y que él mismo resume así:

Está basada, con éxito, en el libro del mismo nombre del genio de Roald Dahl. Si no lo tienen, consíganlo, y si no han visto la película, háganlo! Son las aventuras irreverentes y políticamente incorrectas de un zorro que trata de dejar la vida de caza. En ellas arrastra a su familia y amigos, y se mete en varios problemas. Lejos el mejor papel de George Clooney. Y de Merryl Streep también.
