Cuando las mariposas pasan cerca de uno se siente como si trajeran un mensaje de alguien querido. Son una creación demasiado linda en la naturaleza y las echamos mucho de menos en el otoño y el invierno. Por eso las podemos traer para adentro de la casa, en prints, accesorios, arte y también en muebles. Hay varias sillas y taburetes que han nacido con la inspiración puesta en la forma de la mariposa, la más conocida es argentina, la BKF, diseñada por Jorge Ferrari -Hardoy y el Grupo Austral en 1938. Es un clásico que viene en muchas terminaciones distintas, desde lonas neutras a cueros curtidos, para todos los bolsillos y que es una señal de que sus dueños quieren su comodidad para unas buenas conversaciones, lectura y relajo. ¿Qué opinan?    When butterflies pass near us it feels as if someone brought a lovely message. They are such a beautiful creation in nature and we miss them very much in fall and winter. So we can bring them to indoors, in prints, accessories, art and also furniture. There are several chairs and stools that were born with the inspiration put into the shape of the butterfly, the best known is Argentinian, the BKF, designed by Jorge Ferrari-Hardoy and Grupo Austral in 1938. It's a classic that comes in many different finishes, from neutral canvas to tanned leather, to suit all budgets and it's a sign that their owners want your comfort for a good conversation, reading and relaxation.    El tiempo, el internet y la tecnología me dieron la razón. Hoy todos quieren ser nerds. O pernos, o geeks, o como quieran llamarnos. Porque nuestros compañeros más pernos resultaron ser los que mejor enfrentaron la vida después, porque aprender hace que nos podamos desenvolver en este mundo que se mueve tan rápido, porque con una buena idea un nerd puede ser exitoso a los veinte años.  Anteojos, tomates en el pelo, parches en los codos, fórmulas matemáticas, Star Wars y Sheldon Cooper. Pero, ojo, no se trata de disfrazarse, hay que ser, no sólo parecer! Ser tranquilo, estudioso, lector, esforzado y capaz de asombrarse con la música y las ciencias, es la clave. Vivan los nerds!

   Time, internet and technology said I was right. Today, everyone wants to be nerd. Or geek or however you want to call us. Because our nerdest schoolmates where the ones that faced life the best, because learning makes us able to develop the right way in this fast era, because a nerd with a good idea can be successful at age twenty. Geek glasses, hair buns, elbow patches, math formulas, Star Wars and Sheldon Cooper. But, beware, it is not about using the costume, you have to be, not to look like! Be easy, smooth, studious, bookish, hard working, and with sense of wonder about music and science, that's the key! Viva the nerds!

   El celeste es el color de la calma. Todo lo apacigua, se lleva bien con la luz. Es amigo del amarillo, del rojo, del coral, también del gris, verde o del chocolate. Si quieres un color para tu pared, que sea celeste. Si quieres celeste, que no te cueste!

  Pale blue is the color of calm. It appeases everything, and is a friend of light. It goes along with yellow, red, coral, with gray, green and chocolate too. If you want a color for your wall, let it be pale blue!

   Me he topado esta semana en varias partes con una obra súper trabajada e interesante de la artista australiana Dominique Falla. Ella trabaja con diferentes soportes y con mucha tipografía y color. Su idea es entregar mensajes que evoquen sentimientos y mostrar que la gráfica puede darse en muchos planos. Al mismo tiempo me encontré con la Niña del Aro de Perla de Vermeer en versión hilos en la pared! Lo encontré increíble. Y resulta que hay un lugar donde conseguir moldes para hacer obras clásicas con hilos en la pared, se llama No Man Tai,  es una compañía danesa que produce cosas muy entretenidas. Parece que me inscribo, alguien más?

  This week I've been coming across many times with this incredibly worked and interesting piece by australian artist Dominique Falla. She works with different mediums and lots of typography and color. She intends to give a message that engages feelings and to show that graphic design can live at many dispositions. At the same time I saw the Girl with a Pearl Earring by Vermeer made of thread on a wall! I thought it was amazing. And there is a place where you can find patterns of classical paintings and made them of thread on your wall, it is called No Man Tai, a dutch company producing very nice stuff. I think I'm signing for it, anyone else?

   "Tengo muchos rincones, soy la señora de los rincones, jaja! Yo creo que tienen que haber muchos rincones lindos y acogedores en una casa, sobre todo en una con mucha gente como ésta, que llamen a juntarse, a conversar, a tomarse un café o a jugar. Me costó decidirme así que son varias fotos. Este rincón me gusta porque están las cerámicas que estoy haciendo, que fue descubrir una vocación nueva. Adentro de la fuente redonda tengo chañares, unos frutos que trajimos de un viaje increíble que hicimos al norte de Chile. Son brillantes, preciosos y son de un árbol que alimenta la vida en el desierto. La alfombrita que está encima de la mesa la encontré tirada en la calle en Montmartre, París, después de que se había acabado una feria. Miré para todos lados por si alguien volvía por ella, no pasó nada, así que me la llevé y acá está. También hay un cuadro, que me gusta mucho, que hice de uno de mis hijos."

  " I have many nice corners, I'm the lady of corners, haha! I think a house should have a lot of beatiful cozy corners, especially one with a lot of people in it, like this one. They should draw to gather, to chat for a while, have a coffe, or play. It was hard to make up my mind, so they are several pictures. I love this corner because it has some pottery I have been making, that is a new vocation I discovered. Inside the round dish I put some chañares, a dried fruit we brought from an icredible trip we took to northern Chile. They are shinny, beautiful and come from a tree that feeds life in the desert. the little rug over the table was a find, it was left at the street in Montmartre, Paris, after a flea market had ended, I took it and looked if anyone came back for it, but nothing happened, so I kept it and here it is. There is also a painting I made of one of my sons, I like it too."

   This is from someone that owns quite a lot: this is a good book! Since two days ago it is officially available at bookstores in US and England, but I had it before ;-) Desing Sponge at Home. Grace Bonney, the girl behind Design*Sponge blog, just released an awesome book with her team's help. It has lots of sections; decorating, DYI, flower projects, before/after.... all executed with simplicity, creativity and talent, into rooms, furniture or nice and elegant details, without fancy brands or much money needed. It shows young homes, full of life and color, shared by the owners. A good source of inspiration and such a good book just to have.

   Una selección para ustedes de un diseño clásico que está de vuelta. Hoy me llegó mi libro de Design*Sponge y la primera página es de zig zag rosado.... promete. Todavía no lo leo, después les cuento.

   A selection for you of a classic that is coming back in glory. My Design*Sponge book arrived today and the first page was of pink chevron....promissing. I haven't read it yet, so I'm telling you about it some other day.

En el hemisferio norte ya vienen de vuelta, pero por acá están recién llegando como una avalancha: las rayas. De todos colores y anchos, en todas las cosas. Y si están amarradas por una cuerda de algodón con un ancla colgando, mejor. Acuérdense que para verse más flaca, tienen que ir para abajo! Úsenlas, porque son clásicas y sentadoras, pero no todas juntas, para no marear a nadie, como sí lo vamos a hacer acá:

At the north hemisphere, they are already coming back from this, but here, they are arriving like an avalanche: the stripes. Of every color and size, on everithing. If they are tied up with a cotton rope and have an anchor hanging, the better. To look slender, remember to wear them following the line of the body.
