Cuando los árboles pierden las hojas en el otoño y empieza el frío, es el momento de podar, para que cuando despierten de ese estado de sueño que les trae el invierno puedan crecer con fuerzas nuevas. A veces hay árboles que ya han cumplido su ciclo, o ramas gruesas que hemos tenido que cortar. Yo tengo un árbol que firmó su sentencia este verano cuando creció sobre la ventana del baño y nos quitó toda la luz y sol. Así que podemos tener materia prima para esta linda tendencia, que lleva los troncos para adentro de nuestras casas, quizás para calefacción, también para servir como mobiliario, como parte de la arquitectura o incluso fundiéndose con los textiles. A buscar nuestros troncos!

   Miradas desde afuera, son un misterio que encierra la vida de una familia, con todas sus historias. Desde adentro, son el pedazo que deja entrar la vida de la luz. Me gusta cuando invitan a tomar desayuno con el sol de la mañana y la brisa, o cuando llaman a sentarse con un buen libro bajo esa luz. Pueden enmarcar una vista como de galería de arte, tener el carácter que les da la historia y el estilo de una construcción de época. Hoy las nuevas técnicas del manejo de vidrios permiten hacer grandes ventanales que nos incluyen en los paisajes sin perder aislación en la casa, es casi pecado poner cortinas a esas maravillas. Pequeños lujos: Ver la ciudad desde lo alto, la vista directa al mar y su sonido entrando por la hoja entreabierta, poder ver hacia afuera desde el lavaplatos. Como sea, las ventanas son una invitación a mirar y son parte esencial de nuestras casas, de nuestros recuerdos.

   Es una planta, pero se reproduce por esporas. Hay más de 24.000 tipos, se ha adaptado a todos los climas del planeta, pero hay dos cosas que tiene muy claras: necesita humedad y no le gusta el sol directo. Ahora hemos visto aparecer el musgo en muchísimas partes, su color entrega naturaleza y calidez a los ambientes, es suficientemente neutro como para ir con todo. Se está integrando a la arquitectura y al paisajismo, sobre todo en jardines verticales, porque es aislante y hace de contención. Pero también está en muchísimos accesorios, en forma de pelota, hay collares, adornos, maceteros, terrarios, para poner la mesa y más. Son muy llamativas y lindas las bolas de musgo que sirven para cultivar plantas colgantes, en la técnica japonesa del kokedama. Hay que formar un recipiente redondo con él, poner la planta dentro y rociar todos los días la bola con agua. También son preciosas las bolas de musgo sumergidas en agua, que se cambia cada cierto tiempo. Y si quieren hacer algo especial, busquen una pared sin sol y de superficie porosa (ladrillos o cemento disparejo) y hagan ustedes mismos su graffiti de musgo, abajo salen las instrucciones. No se olviden de buscar un rociador y de mojarlo todos los días con él. Bien lógico incluir el musgo en la decoración de navidad acá en el hemisferio sur, da la frescura de la primavera y el verano, en vez de tanta nieve que no nos toca, cierto? Un dato: el musgo artificial se ve bastante real....jaja!

Don't forget to look for a spray bottle and moisten it every day. One thing: artificial moss looks pretty real .... haha!

   Los seres humanos siempre hemos trabajado, para dar sustento a nuestras familias y para desarrollarnos. Es digno, necesario y cuando es lo que nos gusta, también gratificante. La revolución industrial marcó el inicio de la eficiencia y de las grandes fábricas, con todos sus beneficios y sus desventajas. Todo eso se refleja contundentemente en la película escrita y dirigida por Charles Chaplin, Tiempos Modernos. Es divertida, porque el pequeño vago de Charlie, en su última aparición cinematográfica como ese personaje, hace de las suyas en la ciudad, con sus gestos y accidentes. Pero también es triste y deja pensando en lo que queremos hacer con nuestra vida. Y junto con la historia, están las imágenes, en un inconfundible estilo industrial y utilitario.
