En esta casa estamos ya convencidos de que uno no saca nada con darles cosas a los niños para que estén felices. Lo que tratamos de darles son las herramientas para que ellos puedan ser felices por sí mismos, esas cosas que con esfuerzo y práctica hacen que sean más seguros y fuertes para enfrentar lo que se les presente, esas virtudes que los van a hacer buenas personas cuando grandes. El orden es una de ellas, ayuda a llegar a nuestras metas o ser organizado y puntual.
Todos tenemos que trabajar más el orden, porque no somos de las familias que nos sale solo. Y yo en la mañana me estaba encontrando con demasiadas cosas esparcidas por ahí que tenía que recoger y guardar. Entonces me topé con esta idea en algún lugar y decidí aplicarla: la caja de los desórdenes. No tengo el link original, no lo pude encontrar, porque lo vi hace mucho tiempo, así que les muestro cómo lo hice y después de unas semanas funcionando, les puedo decir que es un éxito!
We are already convinced at this house that we don't get anything out of giving things to the kids to make them happy. What we try to give them are the tools for them to be happy by themselves, those things that with effort and practice make them more confident and strong to face whatever comes their way, those virtues which will make them good people when they grow up. Order is one of them, helping us to get to our goals, to be organized and punctual.
We all have to work in the tidiness department, because we are not a family that have it naturally. And I kept finding myself with too many things lying around that I had to pick up and put away. Then I found this idea somewhere and decided to apply it: the box for messy things. I haven't got the original link, I couldn't find, because I saw it long ago, so I'll show you how I made it, and after a few weeks running, I can say it's a success!
¿Cómo funciona? En una caja transparente, guardamos todo lo que haya quedado fuera de su lugar y para recuperarlo el dueño tiene que hacer un trabajo especial, que saca de una bolsita pegada a la caja. Hay una semana para recuperar las cosas o se botan o regalan. A cualquiera le puede pasar... al papá ya le ha tocado! La caja puede comer de todo, desde juguetes hasta los zapatos del colegio. Los niños lo toman como un juego y entienden al tiro que tienen que guardar todo, especialmente lo que más les importa y si en verdad es algo que no usan, hasta piden que lo regalemos.
How does it work? In a transparent box, store everything that is out of place and to recover each thing the owner needs to do a special chore that he gets from a bag attached to the box. They have a week to recover things or those things can be thrown away or given away. And it can happen to anyone ... even to dad! The box can eat whatever we feed it, from toys to school shoes. The kids take it as a game and understand right away they have to keep everything tidy, especially what matters most to them and if it's really something that they don't use or want, they ask to give it away.

Vamos a necesitar / we will need
1 caja grande transparente / 1 big transparent box
etiquetas / labels
lista de tareas / chore list
conta adhesiva ancha / wide tape
1 clavo / 1 nail
alicate / pliers
1 bolsa de género /1 fabric bag
tijeras / scissors
1.- Imprimir una etiqueta para la tapa y otra para la caja, para que ellos sepan claramente cuál es. Pueden hacer la suya, pero si quieren imprimir ésta, hagan click en la imagen, se va a ampliar y con el botón derecho del mouse la guardan en su computador. La pegan con cinta adhesiva gruesa.
Print one label for the boby of the box and one for the lid, so kids can clearly notice it. You can make your own or download this one in spanish by clicking the image and then saving it to your computer. Then attach them with some wide tape.

2.- Imprimir una lista de tareas que no sean las habituales, que sean simples, pero que los hagan esforzarse un poco. Ojalá tengan que ver también con el orden. Si quieren usar la misma que aparece acá, hagan click sobre ella y la guardan en el computador. Luego forran la lista en cinta adhesiva para que dure más y recortan cada tarea por separado.
Print a list of chores that aren't the usual, make them simple, but make them push themselves a little. It's better when they are related to order. If you want to use this one, click it and save it. Then use some tape over the list to make it last longer, and cut every chore apart.
3.- Tomen un clavo con un alicate y caliéntenlo por unos segundos con el fuego de la cocina y con cuidado abran dos hoyos en una esquina de la caja, para amarrar después la bolsa de género donde van a estar las tareas. Ajustan la bolsa, doblan las tareas y las guardan...estamos listos!
Hold a nail with a pair of pliers and heat it with the stove for some seconds, then carefully open two holes in a corner of the box, so you can tie the fabric bag. Adjust it, fold your chores and put them in the bag...we are ready to go!
4.- Explicamos el sistema a la familia y a ordenar se ha dicho!! Van a ver lo bien que resulta
